VINTAGE BY THE SEA FESTIVAL


Tasked with producing a visual identity for Vintage by the Sea festival, my outcomes include a range of digital and print applications. Just like a business or company, events require a visual identity, especially if they are intended to engage the public and/or attract an audience. 

Conducting thorough research into vintage fonts, I recognised iconic themes which I aimed to maintain whilst keeping the identity clean and stylish. The textured quality of the selected typeface, 'Nimitz', carries the retro vision. During the research process, I also discovered the common use of patterns throughout mid century Britain. I came up with a simple 'V' shape that could be duplicated - ultimately creating a wave-like pattern which I used along with a slightly washed colour palette. This formed the start of the identity.

Inspired by the vintage and retro patterns which continuously reappeared throughout my research, I extended the initial identity to create various outcomes. Ranging from digital to physical mediums, I rolled out the patterns across posters and T shirts in addition to introducing movement through motion graphics.
